I’ve recently discovered sewing parties and wow, as usual there are so many marvellous ideas online. I for one am not the best sewer around but I very much enjoy simple sewing projects which can be done on a rainy afternoon with a cup of tea and slice of cake to hand. (Lemon cake preferably!) This kind of ‘easy sewing’ is perfect for a party theme as there is no doubt that most of the guests will have different levels of skill and concentration. Having all of the sewing tools and fabric laid out on the table is a great way to get everybody involved and allow the guests to have fun. Doing this will hopefully feed lots of ideas and inspiration and is bound to be fun. I absolutely love the dessert table styling above. The sewing theme has clearly played a major part in the decor and sweet treats. I think this brings everything together so brilliantly. I would love to attend a sewing party in that room… I can but dream for now!

I find cake and cupcake toppers so unbelievably adorable. There are so many inspirational DIY ideas and ready made toppers online, the possibilities really are endless. Printed fabric used on toppers is a great way of complimenting your colour scheme and adding splashes of colour to any party table. There is also such a wide selection of edible decorations and decorative cupcake cases available, it makes the party planning and shopping amazingly fun. We are really excited to share some creative tutorials with you on this so do keep your eyes peeled and keep coming back for more inspiration.

I adore this balloon mobile courtesy of Craft Schmaft. It wasn’t specifically handmade for a birthday party, but I could easily see it being used for a children’s birthday party. I absolutely love hot air balloons, there is something very whimsical about them which could set a really lovely tone for a celebration.
We absolutely love the attention to detail above, courtesy of Libby Lane Press. The colours are so cheerful and inspiring, it looks like the perfect environment for some creative cupcake/biscuit decorating. The rolling pin and cutter pictured above, courtesy of Hello Naomi would be the perfect addition to the decorating space, tied with complimentary ribbon. There are some beautiful, child friendly decorating products available for this purpose. I also love Libby’s nail painting idea, it is a great way to make the little girls feel like princesses for the day. Going home after the party with smiles, painted nails and decorated cupcakes/biscuits sounds like a perfect idea.
The aprons and hats here are a lovely touch to the party. I love the fact that they are colour coordinated to the theme of the party and alternated in a beautiful pattern. I imagine there were some extremely excited children as soon as they caught sight of those. The paper decorations are just stunning and the colour of the cupcake icing is also very complimentary to the theme of the party. Overall the styling looks brilliant and most of all inspiring.
Baking parties are such a fabulous idea for children who love creating. There are so many easy, fun and delicious recipes online and a wide range of products available to make the party special. I love the simplicity of the cupcake wrappers used as a paper garland in the background. It is such a clever way of utilising material bought for the party and it really compliments the room. The aprons, hats and decorative rolling pins add that extra special touch and we are really inspired. Thanks to Amy Atlas we are now full of excitement and look forward to showing you a selection of the tastiest party recipes around which could easily be incorporated into any beautiful baking party.

These biscuits will look simply beautiful on a party table or handed out to guests as little favours. Party fillers that have been handmade have such a personal touch and they will certainly impress your guests. Happy baking and making.
Yesterday we looked at beautiful party bags. Party bags aren’t complete without sweet little gifts, so we have handpicked a selection of the best. These ones are best suited for children’s parties. It is a tough task trying to source non garish party fillers but after a long look, we managed to find these inspiring numbers. They have a distinct retro feel to them and believe it or not, they are fairly inexpensive. These will certainly make your guests smile.

Paper Doily loves party bags. These ones are some of the prettiest around. The colours and patterns are just beautiful and the finishing touches such as the buttons, stickers and tape really make them something special. I could imagine filling these with delicious sweets and handing them out to party guests as a token of love. The paper used above is often inexpensive and can be made to look delightful with a bit of creativity. We have some wonderful ideas on party bag fillers coming up. Go and find some beautiful paper and craft materials and come back for the next instalment.
